HELLO, I’M LAURA

My life’s work and greatest joy is to help people discover the mysterious presence of God in every moment, in every place, in every person.

I am a United Methodist pastor, serving a church in North Carolina, where I regularly see glimpses of God in the lives of my parishioners, my friends, my pastor-husband, and our two children. This website is full of these stories, mystical moments of encountering the Divine in the mundane.

This blog grew from my pastoral vocation, from recognizing a deep longing among thoughtful Christians for glimpses of God within the mess of life. My writing vocation expanded further as I discovered a deep ache among churched and once-churched people for glimmers of God in the Church, especially as the public opinion of the institution becomes increasingly irrelevant at best and disdainful at worst.

I am convinced that it is through stories like the ones I share here, when God’s presence overwhelms, that we are able to see and remember with hopeful anticipation that God is still making all things new. Even the Church. Even us.
